MVYLI’s Youth Leadership Summit inspires, educates and empowers young people to take initiative in their lives and on their island. In this weeklong intensive leadership training youth delegates (ages 15-21) envision their personal, professional, island and planetary goals; and begin creating action plans for sustainability projects. The Summit begins with a Sustainable Vineyard Tour to learn first-hand about green projects on the Island. Youth delegates share best practices and lessons learned with islands of Hawaii and Puerto Rico. MVYLI’s year-round Fellowship builds on the youth’s goals from the Youth Leadership Summit and provides youth with leadership opportunities including the Job Shadow Day, College Prep & Field Program, Sustainability-In-Action Projects like the Multicultural Assembly, Sustainable Vineyard Map & 2020 Report; internships with Martha’s Vineyard Community Television. Bioneers-By-the Bay Conferences. MVYLI members are on the Governor’s Youth Council. MVYLI is a program of the Stone Soup Leadership Institute and the Walter Cronkite Awards Ceremony. The decisions we make today will affect the lives of someone’s tomorrow. We are going to be affected the most by what we do today with the environment.
